The Case…This goddess comes in her original Gibson USA case. There is some wear to the exterior, but all latches function and the handle is intact. It fits the guitar very snugly so its a great case to accompany her.The Guitar! The SG Goddess is a really cool guitar. Purple MOP Gibson logo, ebony fretboard, wrap tailpiece, master volume and tone and a special finish is what makes these Goddesses what they are. This guitar is in pretty good shape. It shows signs of average play wear but there is a headstock repair. It wasn’t the best repair in the world, but not the worst either. It was just a simple glue job and a quick touch up with black sharpie. It feels solid and the guitar plays great, but I cannot make any guarantees on this one.The face of the headstock shows some light scratches from string changes and playing. The black holy veneer shows an area where it was creased during the break. It doesn’t appear it actually broke completely off though as there is no line of separation or touch up in that area. The fold line isn’t always that apparant. The nut was replaced and there is some light finish damage to the sides because of that. There is also the typical lines running along the binding showing where the binding truely ends and the neck begins. The frets are in great shape with very little wear. The Ebony fretboard was just oiled and the frets were polished. Your own personal set up is welcomed, but the guitar plays just fine as-is.The body shows some smudges from handling and playing but nothing too bad. A good polish job would likely remove most of what you see. The heel joint is secure and the original 490R + 490T pickups are present. If you’d rather swap those out for chrome covered version – let me know. The back of the headstock shows some light wear and obviously there is evidence of the headstock repair. No professional touch up was attempted – only a sharpie ‘touch up.’ It would be pretty easy to hide the repair. I bought a touch up pen from Gibson to see if it hide it better. I tested it in the control cavity and decided it didn’t look good so I didn’t attempt it on the headstock, but you can see my test areas in the control cavity. The back of the guitar shows some light scratching from casual use, but suprisingly isn’t in too bad of shape. Everything besides the nut is original to the guitar. This guitar is sold AS-IS. I would suggest a new set of strings and a personalized set-up upon arrival. Additional work may need to be done in the future as I make no guarantees. I can say it is a really nice playing and sounding guitar as it is now. For me, the 490T pickup sounds killer distorted and the 490R excels when clean.

Frank Zappa’s Roxy SG was reissued in 2013 by Gibson. This guitar features a mahogany body and neck with rosewood fretboard and has 57 classic neck pickup and a and 57 Classic + plus in the bridge. What makes this guitar extra special is the two mini toggles on the pickguard. They control in/out of phase for the middle position and singe and humbucker mode for all positions. These switches can get in the way of playing if you’re really active with your right hand.

I don’t know a lot about Frank Zappa nor have I listened to his music, but I can say that this natural (white) faced Gibson SG is one of the most versatile SGs I’ve ever had the privilege of playing. The single coil, out of phase sound is really vintage and unique sounding!
